Introduction

On the 10th of September 2025, I had the distinct honor of being elected as a public governor for the MPFT NHS, a significant position that will allow me to serve the community for the next three years. This role not only represents an opportunity for personal growth but also a chance to positively impact various health sectors, particularly in autism, mental health, eating disorders, and dementia.

My Passion for Mental Health and Wellbeing

Mental health is a vital aspect of overall wellbeing that is often overlooked. As a public governor, I am deeply committed to advocating for enhanced mental health services. My personal interest in mental health drives me to focus on promoting awareness, reducing stigma, and ensuring that adequate resources are available for those in need. I believe that every individual deserves access to quality mental health care and support.

Advancing Autism Awareness and Support

In my capacity as a public governor, I aim to prioritize autism-related issues. Autistic individuals often face unique challenges; thus, it is essential to foster an environment that ensures their voices are heard. I plan to collaborate with various stakeholders to develop programs and policies that improve access to services and promote inclusion within the community. Highlighting the importance of early intervention and proper support can lead to vastly improved outcomes for individuals on the autism spectrum.

Addressing Eating Disorders and Dementia

Eating disorders and dementia represent critical areas in mental health that require urgent attention. My role as a public governor enables me to advocate for specialized treatment programs that support those battling these conditions. Education and awareness campaigns are vital to inform the public about the signs, symptoms, and recovery pathways associated with eating disorders, while similar action is necessary to improve understanding and support for dementia. As part of my objectives, I will strive to gather insights from healthcare professionals, patients, and families to understand their experiences and needs better.

Conclusion

Being elected as a public governor for the MPFT NHS is not just a title; it symbolizes a commitment to serve my community with passion and dedication. Over the next three years, I intend to work tirelessly to advocate for autism, mental health, eating disorders, and dementia. With collaboration, awareness, and compassion, I believe we can bring about meaningful change that enhances the lives of individuals and families affected by these challenges. Thank you for joining me on this journey as we strive for better health and wellbeing together.
